In 1936, the world observed the Centenary of Sri Ramakrishna's birth. For that occasion, the Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Center of New York, under the leadership of its founder, Swami Nikhilananda, held a special meeting in New York City's Town Hall. A large audience, including representatives of the leading newspapers of the City, listened as the distinguished speakers paid tribute to Sri Ramakrishna, the God-man of Nineteenth Century India. The address given at Town Hall by Swami Nikhilananda was later published by the Center.
